Aero the Acro-Bat to make a comeback?

Of all the 16-bit platforming mascots to make a return, I can’t say Aero the Acro-Bat was one I was looking out for. I guess that’s on me though because it might not have been too hard to predict given Sunsoft and its recent return to the spotlight.

It looks like the bat is coming back as it was recently discovered that Aero the Acro-Bat was rated by Australia’s OFLC as a Wii game (Virtual Console). I suppose we can still wait for official confirmation, but this is a pretty good indicator that we’ll see the game soon enough.

I can’t recall ever playing Aero. However, I do recall seeing his face at the local rental store time and time again. I don’t know, he always seemed like a third-rate action hero to me. That assessment isn’t particularly fair since my opinions were based on box art alone.

I’m always good for 16-bit platformers so I say bring it on. I’m not sure how Aero holds up today but then again, I’m not sure how Aero held up when it released either.

Blaster Master Overdrive stealth release looks ehhh…

This Blaster Master remake is being called something between a reimagining and a remake, but based on the trailer above, I’d say it’s leaning pretty heavy to the remake side of things.

It’s called Blaster Master Overdrive and some people are happy excited, probably too excited. By the way, it released today.

When it was announced over the weekend, I was cautious to get my hopes up. The screenshots were tiny and the announcement came out of nowhere. Now with a video to watch, I’m still cautious to get excited and I can see why the shots came in miniature form; the game ain’t pretty.

There’s something weird about the art style that isn’t sitting well with me – it looks cheap.

Blaster Master is a relatively popular NES game so naturally there are people all too eager to part with their 10 bucks, but I’ll be holding out for some reviews.
