It’s a little weird to see the PS3 still without a Monster Hunter title. The Wii stole Monster Hunter Tri from Sony and now the 360 is getting a port of Frontier Online, yet Capcom is still showing no love for the PlayStation brand outside of the PSP.
So, why bring it to the 360 and not the PS3? The answer isn’t surprising.
“We decided to offer this title for the Xbox 360 because of this console’s outstanding online game playing capabilities and for other reasons,” Capcom said at an investor Q&A.
The 360 fast became the hub for online gaming, and is far better suited for cooperative play than any other console. That’s not to say people don’t play online on the PS3 because they obviously do, but dude, nearly every 360 gamer is good to go for some online gaming, mic and all.
I’d use this same argument against Monster Hunter Tri. It is the proper continuation to the series, a series that revolves around online play. I’m shocked that Capcom didn’t look to the 360 for it, especially considering the third party success rate on Microsoft’s console.
Odds are looking good for a western release of Frontier, reports Andriasang, so Monster Hunter fans should look forward to a localization.

Between Monster Hunter Tri and Monster Hunter Frontier, there’s been a lot of monster huntin’ chatter going on ‘round these parts.
Why break the trend?
When Frontier was announced, about the only feature that made it more appealing than Tri was the shoo-in proper online experience it will have. Well, while online with Live will still be superior, Capcom has closed the gap for its western debut.
We North American and European folk will not only be getting a Classic Controller Pro with the Tri bundle, but also the severely neglected Wii Speak microphone. Yep, it looks like voice chat is in for Monster Hunter Tri – shock and awe (seriously).
So Capcom leaped beyond friend codes for the game and they’re including voice chat. You’d think Nintendo would be the ones paving the way for online gaming on Wii.

Microsoft has started some weird ass initiative to get popular titles over to camp 360. While the actual initiative is a joke, the objective isn’t. Along with the recently announced Monster Hunter Freedom Online, three other titles will soon be announced for the console.
We have no idea what these titles could be, but I’d like to hope they aren’t all ports.
The three mystery titles are tagged with a “coming soon” label, so cross your fingers that they’re revealed in a timely fashion.

Final Fantasy XIV is of the very, very few MMORPGs I have any interest in; I say this having never played Final Fantasy XI.
If what Square Enix promises is true, it won’t require endless hours of grinding to advance in the game (the complete opposite of what I hear FFXI is all about). That’s a common theme among many hyped MMOs these days, but it’s on Square to make sure it actually happens, and that it’s fun. The game is gorgeous though, and there’s something decidedly more appealing about it than the rest of its competition.
Hopefully I’ll snag a beta slot and get an early look at it. Feel free to join in, open beta sign-ups can be found here. Currently, it’s a PC exclusive beta with PS3 happening some time down the line.

Nintendo just announced a pleasant surprise with the WiiWare exclusive Excitebike World Rally. Better still, the game is only a few Mondays away as it launches on Nov. 9.
Nintendo has been hyping the announcement since last week, but I wasn’t exactly hyped for the results. All too often hype leads to disappointment, so I pretty much assumed we’d hear the “announcement” of a game we already knew was in existence. Thankfully, we got a new Excitebike.
Maybe it’s not the ultra mega exclusive the awkward Nintendo Channel hosts are making it out to be, but it’s a good announcement indeed. READ MORE
I’m eagerly anticipating the HD XBLA release of the original Perfect Dark, but I’m sort of down about it at the same time. To be honest, I had forgotten all about it until Rare announced that they now have a section of their site dedicated to the game.
Unfortunately, I think the game has slipped most people’s minds, too.
While I’ll definitely take a trip through the campaign, when it was announced I got super excited about playing Perfect Dark online with some friends like old times – well, minus the online part. Since Goldeneye 007 XBLA ain’t happening, Perfect Dark is the closest thing that will let me relive the endless hours myself and some friends spent on the N64 blasting away at each other. READ MORE
For whatever reason, I knew Fat Princess was going to be plagued with some problem or another. It seemed odd that after being delayed so many times, Sony threw it out on the PSN with little fan faire or hype and the nature of the launch of just felt wrong.
Well, it seems the online mode – you know, the mode the entire game is based round – is borked.
Titan Studios has addressed the situation on their blog. READ MORE
Activision, I reallycan’tstandyou. Infinity Ward, I really like your games and this new multiplayer trailer for Modern Warfare 2 looks great. With that in mind, please send me a free copy of the game so I don’t fund anything dealing with Bobby Kotick and/or his hair, which might very well be a living being on its own.
Oh whatever, take my money – just know that it’s in support of good games and Infinity Ward’s ability to provide them to me.
Modern Warfare 2 really does look phenomenal though, and no doubt it’s going to shoot up to the top of the activity charts upon release. Even I – with all my disgust toward Activision – can’t help but get hyped for the title.
There is just a tiny problem at hand. Come this fall, there are going to be too many high quality multiplayer experiences to deal with. Halo 3: ODST is coming, Modern Warfare 2 is on the way, and for me, I’m most excited about Left 4 Dead 2.
Even in the face of fall delays, there will still be way too much to play.
