It’s a little weird to see the PS3 still without a Monster Hunter title. The Wii stole Monster Hunter Tri from Sony and now the 360 is getting a port of Frontier Online, yet Capcom is still showing no love for the PlayStation brand outside of the PSP.
So, why bring it to the 360 and not the PS3? The answer isn’t surprising.
“We decided to offer this title for the Xbox 360 because of this console’s outstanding online game playing capabilities and for other reasons,” Capcom said at an investor Q&A.
The 360 fast became the hub for online gaming, and is far better suited for cooperative play than any other console. That’s not to say people don’t play online on the PS3 because they obviously do, but dude, nearly every 360 gamer is good to go for some online gaming, mic and all.
I’d use this same argument against Monster Hunter Tri. It is the proper continuation to the series, a series that revolves around online play. I’m shocked that Capcom didn’t look to the 360 for it, especially considering the third party success rate on Microsoft’s console.
Odds are looking good for a western release of Frontier, reports Andriasang, so Monster Hunter fans should look forward to a localization.

So you know that super ultra mega announcement from Capcom? Turns out it’s a port of an old game,Monster Hunter Frontier. Yay?
For as cool as I think Monster Hunter Tri looks, and for as hyped as I’d be for a legit HD console entry into the series, an up port of an old game isn’t exactly what I had in mind.
This is why you should never get hyped for announcements.
There will be a fee on top of your Live subscription, but for now this is only in regards to Japan – I’m sure will learn more soon enough. If Capcom wants the game to succeed here, it might be helpful to offer it up for free.
There is some weird option where you buy access to Monster Hunter Frontier 30 days at a time that adds a free month Live, too, but buying those cards every month sounds like a pain in the ass.
…
But I’d be lying if I said I weren’t at least somewhat interested in it. Hacking monsters to bits over Live with friends could be really fun, even if it’s just a port. I’m looking forward to Tri, but it ain’t exactly going to have proper online when stacked against the 360.
Also, it’s hilarious seeing Sony fanboys cry foul at the series heading to Nintendo and Microsoft platforms. Because after all, the Wii isn’t a real system and the 360 just a shitty console only good for red-ringing, right?

Between now and the release of LostWinds: Winter of Melodias, I’m going to have to update my Wii whilst crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Hopefully Nintendo isn’t downplaying numbers when it says actual bricked Wiis are quite low.
Release should be coming soon, too.
LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias hits Europe this Friday. The game is getting special treatment from Nintendo, launching as the 100th WiiWare title out in Europe, according to Nintendo Life.
It should get special treatment, too. The original is still one of the defining WiiWare games and launched with the damn service. Very few games have come along since then that have even come close to matching its quality, and I expect Frontier to raise the bar even higher with Melodias.
Here’s to hoping we get the game stateside soon enough.

LostWinds: Winter of Melodias has, and will continue to get, a considerable amount of hype by this site. The original LostWinds is excellent, and all available media on Melodias suggests Frontier is creating an equally impressive successor.
The team is teasing an upcoming European Nintendo media event where press in attendance will be given a chance to go hands-on with the title. Now look, I don’t ask for much, but how does a flight to Europe and back (on you, of course) sound, Frontier? Oh, I’ll also need a hotel with a comfy bed. I like five stars, but I suppose four will do.
But I digress, next Wednesday expect to see a media blowout of sorts with the sequel to one of WiiWare’s top games. For the time being, Frontier has released a beautiful piece of concept art (up top). I’m confident in saying that this concept will become reality – come on, there’s platforming ledges ripe for hopping to and from.

First screenshots are up for the upcoming WiiWare game LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias, which can be found here. Loved the original, so there’s a good chance I’ll be all over Melodias when it hits.
That’s a good question though, when will it hit?
Frontier isn’t talking release dates just yet, but based on every indication, I’m thinking sooner rather than later. VG247 says in a conversation with the developer, they gathered that Wii owners won’t be waiting long.
By those words, the game should definitely hit this year – should.
After looking the screenshots over, it seems pretty evident that that the lands of Melodias will get an icey makeover at some point in the game. A couple of the shots seem to be in the exact same location; the only difference being that they’re covered in snow and ice.
