THQ announces impressive list of upcoming releases; get excited

THQ had some big announcements yesterday in an earnings report with loads of new titles that should be of high quality – odd saying that about THQ, but they’ve upped their game in recent years.
I’m going to call ‘em out for frowning on those Darksiders numbers if they’re truly disappointed, apparently THQ has shipped around 1.2 million copies of the game already. That’s an impressive number for a new IP, and nothing to be ashamed of.
Judging from reviews, the success is well deserved, too. I’ll have to pick it up one day or another.
THQ announced numerous upcoming titles during the report, and while reports seem a little conflicting, I’ve tried to piece it together. Launching in fiscal year 2011, which actually starts this March, Homefront and a new Red Faction are scheduled for release.
I can’t say I’m overly familiar with Homefront, but Red Faction: Guerrilla is fantastic and a sequel is sweet, sweet music to the ears.
A second sequel is coming to Saint’s Row, Darksiders 2 has been announced, and Warhammer 40K: Space Marines has been given some form of a launch window. All three titles are releasing in fiscal 2012 (starts March 2011), so we’re a ways off from them.

THQ also announced de Blob 2. The game is a sequel to the original de Blob; a surprise hit both critically and commercially. While I assumed this would be a Wii title like the original, I haven’t seen confirmation of that yet. I’ll hold out on pinning it down to a certain console for now.
Good news all around from THQ, I’m really impressed with their commitment to bringing quality products these days.
